Cliff Scaling in the National Park
Even total beginners will rapidly be climbing protected Peak District outcrops on this weekend course. Participants will become proficient in securing the rope, belaying and a range of methods of ascent, along with descending. Non-Representational Art in Andalucía
Moclín, a historic hillside village in southern Spain, approximately 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the inspiring location for this art retreat. Painters of every skill level – including novices – will learn how to design and produce non-representational pieces. Some time will be spent in the open air, working on tutorials out in nature. These charcoal drawings and paintings will then be worked on in the studio, with guests completing a number of abstract landscapes in acrylics to be shown in the village. The group has sole use of the venue, which is centered on an central patio and has a rooftop with panoramic vistas over the countryside. The cost covers five days’ art instruction; all meals; and an excursion to the nearby fortress and additional local sights.

Ottolenghi-Inspired Culinary in the Algarve
This sun-drenched culinary holiday, located at a riverside villa in the inland Algarve, is draws inspiration from the plant-based cuisine of celebrated cooks. Attendees will learn to produce meze spreads, take part in a hands-on falafel session, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses like a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. The schedule includes trips to the village market and a local vineyard to sample local vintages, plus leisure time for walks by the Funcho River, to unwind on the deck or take a dip in the infinity pool. The farmhouse, a former farmhouse, has multiple rooms, as well as glamping tents in the gardens.

Street Dance in Buckinghamshire
Hip Hop Don’t Stop is an uplifting, welcoming weekend dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The daily schedule throughout the camp is a party-style group warmup, followed by several hour-and-a-half classes teaching various urban dance forms, then an 60-minute freestyle session to demonstrate those solos. Participants are split into groups according to ability and experience, so it is perfect for those who are brand new to popping and locking, right up to advanced dancers or instructors. The camp does not provide lodging but there are several places to stay within walking distance, and it is 23-35 minutes by train into central London.

Maritime Singing Weekend in St Ives
St Ives is the excellent spot for a sea shanty weekend. Guests will learn historic sailing songs from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at writing their own. The schedule includes voice exercises, breathing exercises, stagecraft advice and a closing performance. The retreat is held in a country house with views of the bay. All meals are included, including a traditional tea on arrival, cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals. Grog, unfortunately, is not provided. Writing in Crete
Writer and tutor an experienced instructor leads the regular sessions on this authors' getaway. He covers everything from story structure, characters, setting and tension, to sending manuscripts to agents. Greg’s wife, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will co-host events at the beginning and end of the week. The retreat is held at a village-style hotel in Vamos at the foot of the Lefka Ori – ten one- and two-bedroom cottages are set around a garden and pool (non-writing partners are encouraged to share). A leading eco-centre near Machynlleth runs a host of programs on eco-living: from creating habitats to upcycling. It is designed to produce “ecologically mindful beekeepers”. The weekend is also a opportunity to de-stress in the centre's carefully maintained forests, which are home to wildlife, otters, dormice, lesser horseshoe bats and uncommon bird species.
