Colts Take On Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10
Hello, fussball enthusiasts. How are you? Everything good I trust on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the mighty Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on soil in Germany and the first in the nation’s capital.
Pregame Highlights
As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in their last game?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.
First Quarter Gameplay
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
Here we go! And we have early drama after the Colts running back receives a short throw, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs cannot reel in a fastball from Jones. On the play before the turnover on downs Jessie Bates put a huge hit on the Colts' tight end. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Touchdown Updates
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.
A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and fumbles the football.
An agile 22-yard rush from the Colts receiver sets Jonathan Taylor up to roll in for the score on the next snap. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Oops.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the seas part for Tyler Allgeier to saunter on to the goal line through the heart of the field for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
Additional Tenth Week Games
Additionally, the jumbo package starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:
(5-4) Carolina Panthers v Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Chicago Bears v Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Houston Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) New York Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)
What a feast. My pick for the best game is the Vikings and Ravens playing out the top contest of the day.
