Edwards as well as O'Neil Among Wolves Managerial Contenders

Rob Edwards along with O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the former Luton head coach - who made over a century of games for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves board as they start the process of appointing a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising appointment given he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham United player is out of work meaning Wolves would not need to provide any buyout fee.
