First-choice Eleven

The goalkeeper Not a save required in the first half before called into action by an opponent's curling effort. A sliding challenge against Qazim Laci showed his anticipation. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Challenged against the opposition's main danger in their forward. Started in a central role initially but moved to the flank after a teammate was introduced. 7/10

The defender Moved up the pitch when in possession, a familiar role in the past. On occasion seemed hesitant in possession and the approach abandoned at half-time. 6/10

Dan Burn A nuisance on corners and free-kicks, per usual, but may be an alternative for Stones in the backline as opposed to alongside him. A careless ball in the second half nearly resulted in a goal from Albania. Six

Nico O’Reilly A further assured performance by the rising star following his first cap versus Serbia. A teammate was unable to take full advantage of an exquisite touch over the Albania defence. The role is firmly his already. 7/10

Adam Wharton A debut start in an England shirt. A bit loose when playing out though his whipped deliveries caused problems. A useful tempo-setter available to the coach to have versus sides that sit back. Booked after a reckless challenge. 6

Declan Rice Deliveries on corner kicks and set-plays created chances. Enjoyed license to drift in left midfield but was offside as the pass came with a chance to score. Granted a merited substitution after an hour. 6/10

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a high position on the right and also put in defensive duties. Showed flashes of quality but dragged an attempt over. Substituted towards the end by a teammate, his rival, after being booked. Seven

The winger Had England’s clearest opportunity before halftime, his strike smartly stopped from Thomas Strakosha. With a teammate hanging back, it fell to him to offer an outlet on the right but his crosses into the box were inconsistent. Replaced with 15 to go. 6/10

The captain The decisive figure scoring two more strikes at international level. His first a typical opportunist's goal and the second a superb finish with his head after peeling away from his marker. At 32, his form is unwavering with the national team are strong contenders in future competitions with him leading the line. 8

The attacker Struggled to influence play from the left. Was presented with a good opening after being played in from a teammate but the keeper denied him. His replacement produced a bigger effect when substituted. 5/10
