Shock as Popular South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old entertainer was confronted by a trio of assailants, with one opened fire on him before running away.
The reason behind the incident is unknown and no arrests are in custody, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Police revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the site supervising the implementation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement said.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocked hair and wearing what looked like a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but collapsed across the street.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the attack.
Important clues, like spent shells, were discovered at the location.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have have information to contact them.
"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the attack, and investigators have been tracking them to establish their location," added an official.

His sister, a close relative, said the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am devastated. I cannot express the pain," she said.
"It is clear he was a champion for numerous individuals. He was a fearless commentator about topics not many people were willing to speak about. This is a profound tragedy."
She appealed to the citizens to not sharing graphic images from the scene, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, particularly for Stock's children.
