Top-ranked Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Honors.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.
The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.
A Season of Dominance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a record £11m in prize money.
She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".
